Robert A. Lupowitz, D.C.

Dr. Robert A. Lupowitz, age 66, lifted off on Friday, March 10, 2017. Born in Philadelphia on December 20, 1950 to Muriel (Huttner) and Stanley B. Lupowitz, he grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania the middle child between his older sister, Michele, and younger brother Jeffrey. He graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1968, earned a B.Sc. in Political Science from American University in 1972, and received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 1978.

Robert married Linda Weissinger, also NHS Class of ‘68, in 1975. They raised three children, Ariana, Sion Ben, and Max, and opened their home and office to countless friends and practice members who crossed their path over the years in Taos, Santa Fe and Corrales.

A gifted natural healer, Robert practiced light touch chiropractic for 38 years, allowing thousands to lay on his table and heal themselves. He felt privileged to serve by “going into a room and touching people,” with precision, focus and transformational love. Among many other stories, he cared for five generations in one Corrales family.

His award-winning book of tender, funny and often satirical poems, Adobe Road,  drew from his Jewish roots and deep love of New Mexico.

Robert was predeceased by his father Stanley in 1969 and mother, Muriel Margulis, in 2011. He is survived by his stepfather Erv Margulis; wife Linda; children Ariana (Jody) Strong, Sion (Kristi) Lupowitz, and Max Lupowitz; sister Michele Lupowitz-Grant; brother Jeffrey (Robin) Lupowitz; nephews Seth, Samuel and Jeremy; extended Margulis family and Weissinger clan; many cousins dear to him; long-time friends and patients; and the lights of his life: grandchildren Noah and Tobin Strong.

‘Dr. Bob’ was known for his fabulous wit and ever-present sense of humor, and for his magic hands. May his memory be a blessing.
